Greetings to the Believer and the Unbeliever,
God is doing something in our day and its an honor to be a part of what He is accomplishing through the Millennial Generation. In August of 2010, after a showing of JesusFreaks(JF) at one of the Film Festivals, the Lord shared with us that He was “Creating a Shift in Culture.”
“Hhmmmm,” you say. What does that mean? Well we wondered the same thing…
Shortly thereafter, while creating our website with our good friends at BELLA CLEMENTINE (www.BellaClementine.com) my wife, Katherine, was sharing what the Lord told us…HE WAS CREATING A SHIFT IN CULTURE.
We shared the phrase,“Shift in Culture,” with Anthony Lee, a web designer second to none, he listened intently to our story and commented, “that is very interesting. But how does it connect with the “JesusFreaks” website we are building? Do you want to put it on the front page of your website?…I don’t understand the connection.”
Katherine answered, “I don’t know the connection, but God does so let’s ask Him?” We all began to pray and ask God what was the connection between the “Shift in Culture” and what was going on with JesusFreaks and the Millennial Generation.
AND INSTANTLY HE ANSWERED: THE “SHIFT IN CULTURE” WAS THAT THE YOUNGER GENERATION SHALL LEAD THE OLDER GENERATION. This next big move of God will be ignited from the youth and burn so high and bright that it will envelope the older generations. A great move of the Lord is beginning…what many call revival is about to happen in our day. It will began with the youth and in many ways be led by them.
And He gave us a verse to confirm what was going on…1 Timothy 4:12.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, and in purity.”
We all sat there stunned…God is a COMMUNICATOR.
You see, traditionally and culturally, the older generation has always led the younger generations. This time it will be different…the younger was going to lead the older.
With that in mind:
This summer, one of our partners purchased a bunch of JesusFreaks(JF) DVD’s for the YWAM-Denver Mobile Team to give to people at different Christian Festivals around the country. Our relationship with YWAM and YWAM-Denver particularly, has been an awesome and fruitful relationship. Since the release of JF in January 2009 the enrollment numbers at YWAM-Denver have continually increased. This summer there are over 100 students attending Schools at YWAM-Denver, Multiplication is happening and its exciting! God is doing something in our day and JF is one of the many vehicles speaking to the millennial generation leading them to go deeper with Jesus. Through God telling His love story to the Millennial Generation through JF, He moves them into new directions calling many to missions and by doing so they are not only are transforming their own destinies but many others as well, World Wide!
And a great big THANK YOU to Andrew Farland and Katie Bergmann for your unending dedication to introducing people to our God. You guys inspire us!
And speaking of God moving people in new directions…
The Circuit Riders movement began last summer in Kona, Hawaii with the first 300 “Riders” saying, “God we are willing to go wherever you want us to go so that the world can come to know you Jesus as Lord and Savior.”
Presently, the School of the Circuit Riders is happening here at YWAM-Denver. The leading voices of this movement and the people who God spoke directly to ignite this movement are Amy Sollars, Andy Byrd, & Christy and Brian Brendt, a word of the Lord told them that 80 million people would come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior-the fruits to come from this Circuit Rider movement. In addition, from this vast people group a remnant- 200,000 people will be led to the mission field. We believe that JF and School of the Circuit Riders are both integral parts of God accomplishing His Vision for this generation. Interestingly enough John Murphy who is the leader of the School of the Circuit Riders here in Denver was also the mighty man of God we followed in JF as he led a group of boarders on a 5 month journey with God-mentoring the students during the YWAM Discipleship Training School…this is not by mistake God knew what he was doing when he ordained John to star in a critically-acclaimed documentary like JesusFreaks and then to spearhead the School of the Circuit Riders in Denver now.
IHOP, YWAM, Circuit Riders, and JesusFreaks are four parts of many parts God is using to usher in this Third Great Awakening in America.
God is doing something in our day…One can hear and feel the rumblings of the earth as this outpouring is happening in a way not seen in many years!
The evidence is all around us, more young people are coming to know Jesus more intimately and are deciding to lay it all down to focus energy and effort in sharing with others about this amazing Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ who yearns for relationship with his children. The Circuit Riders are those who say, ”Lord, send me! I’ll go and tell them about what You did for us through conquering death and taking away the sins of the world.”
Their motto is: “To save the lost, revive the saved, and train them all.”
I am thankful to be able to lock shields with these lion-hearted warriors and attend the School of the Circuit Riders as a student here in Denver. The amazing passion and leadership of the Circuit Riders is contagious…the grand finale is the Circuit Rider School in Kansas City, Missouri August 6-17th, 2012. I Had the honor of hearing Dave Powers, lead worship this morning for the School of the Circuit Riders…Dave runs a ministry called Worship and the Word Movement, he is also the visionary and leader of Heaven Fest, a platform for the Father Heart of God-the all day all night event is a massive music and worship gathering with multiple stages, tons of artists and bands, camping, art, a kidz area, a skate park, and other family friendly activities, and thousands of people come. Helping people connect with the Father-heart of God is what they are all about! This event has become the largest Christian Music Festival in the nation. Please come out and enjoy it is going to be an awesome venue and a huge gathering of Christians which will have great spiritual significance. www.heavenfest.com
The Riders will be in attendance as well doing what they do introducing any in the audience who personally have not met the headlining act of Heaven Fest, His name is JESUS !!!
If you want to have a life-changing encounter with God, do yourself a favor and go to Heaven Fest and attend the School of the Circuit Riders in Kansas City.
God is doing something in on our day, and its exciting to see the movement take shape and begin to explode on the national scene.

Katherine and I had a wonderful time at the New Orleans Film Festival…One of the shorts, “Day of Remembrance,” was an official selection of the festival and I would like to say THANK YOU !!! to NOLA Film Festival for the exposure given the “JesusFreaks” project and for being so generous as to provide us a complimentary suite, which is a first.
What was so impressive about this festival was the multitudes of activities that were provided for film makers to interact with each other. The facts are, one of the things we learned along the way is that relationships matter in this industry, and you can never have enough contacts. Also, there is something about sharing “war stories” with other independents…it is comforting to know that other people are out there changing how the world is portrayed through film.
Our favorite evening was having the opportunity to watch the “Louisisana Shorts Program” and we saw some outstanding films…the short that won the title, “Best Louisiana Short,” was “Chasing Dreams,” that documented the story of the famous New Orleans restaurant, Dookie Chases, which has been opened since 1946 in the black neighborhood of Treme.
It was wonderful to see and meet Mrs. Leah Chase, the founder of this iconic NOLA restaurant.
As Mrs. Chase walked through the door into the theatre before the program, everyone present knew that they were in the company of “New Orleans Royalty.” It is amazing that at 88 years old she still cooking up that good Lousisana Creole soul food-what a treat to see her and watch a film showing what a unique NOLA landmark she and her husband have owned and operated for 60 plus years-I wish her the best in her continued success.
Immediately following the NOLA Festival, I was honored to attend the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. The receptions and venues were first class. The Indanapolis community really comes out to support the film community and especially the traveling film makers who attend. We were fortunate enough to have our documentary, “JesusFreaks,” be recognized as an official selection in 2009 and then to be welcomed back and acknowledged again as an “Official Selection” of the Heartland Film Festival in 2011 with the “JesusFreaks” shorts has been quite the honor.
2011 has been another successful year for the “JesusFreaks” Project.
The most important aspect of this year was being able to continue to bring the Millennial Generation into a relationship with The Living God.
Along with that, the Lord has provided for us over and over the opportunity to share with others of the Vision that is in the final stages…having JesusFreaks the Reality Series become the first faith-friendly reality series on a secular network.
This is our 7th year in spear-heading the vision of JesusFreaks, and we have not lost sight of the goal.
Biblically, the number 7 represents “COMPLETION.”
Below is fortune we recently received…we couldn’t agree more.
Thank you, Jesus, for the continued open doors and provision to persevere.

When the JesusFreaks(JF) journey started in 2004, our first priority was to create the first faith-based reality TV series to air on a secular network. I knew that JF was edgy enough and presented Christians in a way that had never been observed before. The first year we filmed 30 hours and produced a 7 minute teaser to help sell the concept, hopefully raise the money ourselves and go into a full production.
But as I shopped the trailer, people weren’t really getting what this trailblazing series would look like. Year two we filmed another Boarders DTS and shot 60 hrs of footage and produced another short, this time targeting the baby-boomer generation. After all, this was the generation that disapproved of a majority of the TV programming out there for young people. I believed that we could rally the Boomer’s with a reality TV series which was positive, showing young people trying to make good choices, not that they were perfect, but that the series could reveal young people who are seeking God and trying to better themselves through the process of true discipleship.
This second year JF short galvanized a few people, however, people still weren’t really understanding what the series would look like.
So…in year 3 we filmed the entire 5 month Boarders Discipleship Training School and produced a feature film length documentary.
FINALLY, PEOPLE COULD SEE THE POTENTIAL…
We screened JesusFreaks at University of Colorado at Boulder, a focus group of sorts, in 2008…12 film students, all in attendance were self-described atheists or agnostics…at the end of the screening on a scale of one to 10…10 being the best, we received 7 and 8′s. We also had a screening at BIOLA University in LA, an audience of about 25-30…the average score rating was a 9.5. JF received comments such as “the best documentary I ever seen” as well as, “this is the kind of project I want to be a part of.”
What both audiences loved about the film was that it was “real.”
Since these humble beginnings, with the support of the YWAM Denver community as well as the Global YWAM community, and PERSEVERANCE that is only inspired by God, the response for the JF documentary has been incredible.
In 2010, JF has been recognized by 8 different film festivals, as an “official selection.” At the Mammoth Film Festival, which according to MovieMaker magazine is a top 25 film festival, JF won “Best Faith Film.”
We went from 180 hours of film, then to a 3 1/2 hour cut, and finally to the finished 96 minute doc…only to wonder, “…what about all of the other stories we did not use?”
In the fall of 2010, we created a new platform and produced and produced 18 short episodes ranging in length from 3-7 minutes…these were story-lines which did not make it into the film or storylines from the documentary that are expanded in the shorts. 8 of the 18 shorts were posted on our website www.jesusfreaksmovie.com as a WEB SERIES.
I wanted to share with you the “broad strokes” of the journey to let you know we have not reached our destination yet. Our goal is still to do a Reality TV series about True Discipleship and what that looks like.
The facts are, it’s not always pretty when you come to Christ.
However, through true Godly Discipleship…and this take guts…to be the Disciple and to be the one who is Disciplining, that lives are transformed, that leaders are birthed, and that futures are reclaimed.
Please pray for this door to open…tell your friends about JF and what we are trying to accomplish.
I speak it out and lay claim to the first faith-based reality series on a Secular outlet…to the creation of secular media with a christian world-view!!!
And I can hear people saying, “…did you watch JESUSFREAKS last night?”
WE must all keep pushing and believing and God will do the rest!!!
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers, we are almost at the final destination, I feel it in my soul.
A Generation is Waiting.
