Yup. That’s right. The X-Games. This evening we will be screening “JESUSFREAKS” at the Aspen District Theatre in Aspen Colorado. It’s kinda hard to wrap my mind around, actually.
I mean, let’s look at this logically.
I don’t ski or snowboard. I would NEVER throw myself off of the side of a mountain. I have 2 young children, ages 1.5 and 3.5. I am with a group of Millennials whose style of dress is WAY cooler than mine….I mean, I am 43 years old. I could go on and on…
However, here I am. And even with all of these “strikes” against me, I have to say, I have a great sense of “belonging.”
The first year we came to Aspen to film, I remember standing at the bottom of the Half-Pipe looking up, and I turned to my husband Chad and said, “I think I can do that.” Chad looked at me in total disbelief. He then gathered his thoughts and said, “…that’s why I married you. You REALLY think you can do that.”
Just sayin’…
I know without a doubt that I am here promoting “JesusFreaks,” God’s Love Story to the Millennial Generation, because of a strategic plan. A plan that has Divine Order, Wisdom, and is led with Love.
And I am grateful that I get to be a part of that.
The Boarders DTS from YWAM Denver has been led by John Murphy and his wife Bethany for 8 years and every year they bring their group of students here to the X Games to serve the X Game venue and the town of Aspen. And by serve, I mean spread the Love. This year, Bethany is not here because she is in Manilla at a Mid-Wife Conference, and has been there for 3 weeks. The Murphy’s youngest child, Aiden, is with her in Manilla, he is 4 months old.
So, John has brought his other 4 children Isaac (8), Jaden (6), Emily (4) , and Ivan (2) with him to the games…as well as 30 other kids (ages 17-23) to continue with the Vision that God has given the Murphy’s regarding, the Millennial Generation.
WHO IS THE MILLENNIAL GENERATION YOU ASK?
The Millennials are all those that are born between 1982-2002…and there are 80 plus million of them. To put that into perspective, my generation, Gen X only has 41 million. My parents generation, the Boomer’s have 75 million. The Millennials are the only generation that has been birthed by their 2 prior generations, hence the large number.
And the 80 million number does not include the 2 million Millennial immigrants entering our country every year, nor does it include the 20-30 million Millennials that have been killed through abortion.
SO…we are talkin’ a BUNCH of kids.
As I shared earlier, John and Bethany Murphy have been toiling this X -Game Fields for 8 years. And when I say “toil” I mean they have laid claim spiritually by loving, praying, serving, this venue of radical dwellers. The X-Games are known for their rebellious ways, however, there is nothing more counter-culture than how the Murphy’s have walked in HOLY REBELLION BY RADICALLY LOVING AND LEADING THE MILLENNIAL GENERATION INTO RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ORIGINAL REBEL…JESUS CHRIST.
So my thoughts are, if the law states that if a man and woman live together for 7 years, they are “common-law” married, then somewhere in the spiritual realm, since the Murphy’s have toiled the X-Game fields for 8 years, THIS LAND IS THEIRS.
A GENERATION IS WAITING…
